Inspired by the Val de Loire. The bushvines look like ancient small trees, thriving for over fifty years on a dryland West-facing slope on the Paardeberg (Swartland). The low yield ensures rich flavours and the mineral-rich soils add a fresh note to the wine for a perfect balance. Natural barrel fermentation. This is a food wine like few others.
Tasting notes (current vintage 2019): This wine has beautiful aromas of lime blossom, naartjie, gooseberry and fynbos (“kooigoed”). The palate offers fresh apricot, marmalade, honey, a mineral texture and a long, clean finish.
